Ion Channel Assay Services
Reaction Biology offers cell-based testing for the discovery of drugs targeting ion channels.
There are over 400 identified ion channel subunits that assemble in an essentially combinatorial manner allowing for tremendous diversity in structure and function across this protein class. Ion channels are critical molecular targets for both drug discovery and safety pharmacology that play important roles in physiology and are targeted for example for pain therapy or modulation of energy homeostasis.
Drug screening methods include:
- Binding assays
- Oocyte-based two-electrode voltage clamp
- Manual and automated patch clamp
- Calcium-mobilization assay for high-throughput screening of ion channels
- Cardiac safety assays are available for the evaluation of the safety of new drug candidates
Stable cell lines for the discovery of ion channel modulating drugs are available via collaboration with our partner PharmaCore. Please inquire for a list of targets including pain-related assays such as Nav 1.7,1.8,1.9, GABA, P2X, NMDA, and many more.
